ARLINGTON, VA — The National Coalition for Public School Options (PSO) today announced three new board members and new board leadership who will each help to continue PSO’s work to support and defend parents; rights to access the best public school options for their children.
The PSO board named Letrisha Weber of Indiana as its president and Wei Barr of Alabama as its treasurer. Letrisha Weber previously served as a member of the PSO Board of and as the Indiana State Chair. Letrisha is the mother of two children; one in full time virtual learning, and one hybrid school student.
“I am humbled by the confidence that the board of directors has shown me and I am very grateful for this opportunity to lead this incredible organization,” said Weber. “I’m thrilled to join my fellow PSO Board members and excited to see what this team can accomplish as we strive to fulfill PSO’s mission. It is more important now than ever to improve education options for parents and children.”
Wei Barr currently serves as the chairwoman of the Alabama chapter of PSO and has been a National Board member since 2020. Wei immigrated to the US in 2007 and witnessed first-hand the power and impact of school options on students and their families. Wei’s children joined Alabama Virtual Academy in 2016 as founding members.
“I am excited to work alongside Letrisha and the PSO board to grow our ranks and advance our cause,” said Barr. “We have important work to do as we fight to ensure every student is able to attend the school where they will learn best.”
The three new board members began their terms with the PSO board effective March 23, 2021. The new board of directors are:
- Dr. Nicole Conragan, DC, former president of California Parents for Public Virtual Education
- Karen, McGee, former president of the Idaho State Board of Education and current executive board member of the Coalition of Idaho Charter School Families
- Cynthia Williams, current chair of the Ohio eSchool Family and Friends Coalition
PSO would like to thank outgoing board president Colleen Cook and outgoing treasurer Shea Mackin for their service on behalf of the organization and families across the country.
The National Coalition for Public School Options (PSO) is a national alliance of parents that supports and defends parents’ rights to access the best public school options for their children. The coalition supports the creation of public school options, including charter schools, online schools, magnet schools, open enrollment policies, and other innovative education programs. Additionally, we advocate for free and equal access without restrictions to these public schools for all children.
