by Abigail Barr, 9th Grade, ALVA
Anyone who’s taken 9th Grade Biology knows it isn’t easy. Throughout the year, my peers and I delved deep into labs and worksheets that required extensive thinking and the ability to apply what we had learned. Without any guidance, the course would have been impossible to ace.
Luckily for us, we had Ms. Alattar.
Ms. Alattar is an energetic, joyful, and immensely intelligent person who was never afraid to challenge us to think outside the box. She always started our classes out with a fun national holiday, and our discussions helped me get to know both her and my classmates better. I was never afraid to ask a question or speak my mind, and she always made sure that the classroom was a friendly environment for everyone. All potential barriers were broken down by our face-to-face interactions and constant communication. I truly feel like I learned the content, and I certainly had fun doing it.
Future 9th graders, do yourselves a favor and take Honors Biology. If not for the course itself, take it for Miss Alattar. She’ll make it worth your time.”
