WASHINGTON – PublicSchoolOptions.org president Tillie Elvrum made the following statement about tonight’s first presidential debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.
STATEMENT FROM TILLIE ELVRUM,PUBLICSCHOOLOPTIONS.ORG PRESIDENT, PARENT LEADER AND SCHOOL CHOICE ADVOCATE:
“With “Achieving Prosperity” as one of tonight’s presidential debate topics, candidates have an opportunity to present their vision for our nation’s education system. Unfortunately, education has been largely missing from the campaign, yet its impact on millions of children, our economy, and our nation’s future is immeasurable. Part of our country’s path to prosperity is a strong education system where individual student success is at the core, and parent choice is respected.
“As parents, we want the best education possible for our children, whether that’s in a traditional brick and mortar school, public virtual school, charter school, home school, or private school. Every child learns differently, and regardless of their zip code, they deserve the best start in life.
“Tonight parents will be listening to hear who trusts them to make education decisions for their children; whose plan will create more opportunities for our children; and whose plan prepares our children to continue building a cutting-edge, competitive, prosperous economy.”
