Like many parents, I am so proud of my son. Our little guy is on a mission that we are proud to be a part of.
Brenden, who was featured in a late-October blog post, has taken his campaign to end bullying one step further. He has recently created a business card by himself, along with a graphic (pictured below) that illustrates his mission: to have a bully free world.
He is hoping to promote bullying awareness by dedicating two official days in the months of August and September to highlight the cause. Brenden correctly observes that kids are bullied the most when they start a new school year, so building awareness at the outset might make the environment in schools more welcoming.
Had Brenden attended a traditional brick-and-mortar school, he would not have had the flexibility to start this campaign. Virtual school has empowered an eleven year old boy to become a champion for bullying victims. The amazing educational option provided at North Carolina Virtual Academy affords Brenden the time to make a positive difference in this world.
Being Brenden’s mom has been a gift and I am so moved to participate in his movement to make schools and communities more accepting and inviting. Be sure to follow him on Twitter (@NCVASTUDENT) to show your support!
