Parents, students, teachers, and school choice advocates from across Oklahoma joined together for the annual Capitol Day on Tuesday, February 5th.
The group rallied together on the Grand Staircase steps of the Oklahoma State Capitol, sending a strong and unified message that ALL school options are equally valid and important for families.
Dr. Rebecca Wilkinson, executive director of Oklahoma’s Statewide Virtual Charter School Board, spoke to the families about the importance of all educational options.
Dr. Wilkinson also spoke in support of virtual schools in Oklahoma and encouraged parents to continue their dialogue with legislators as important legislation is considered this session.
Dr. Wilkinson, who won a Golden Apple award from PSO in the past, shared the stage with Public School Options Board Member Colleen Cook, an Oklahoma mom of three.
“Virtual education works for my family and has enabled my children – including my marine son – to succeed in ways we never thought possible,” Cook said. “School choice shouldn’t be a policy. It should be a right for all families across America.”
Following the rally on the staircase steps, families visited their legislators and toured the Capitol Building.
