SB 429 is a threat to parent choice!

Senate Bill 429, recently introduced by Senator Mimi Stewart, is an undeniable threat to virtual schools across New Mexico.

Specifically, the bill would introduce stringent enrollment caps, prohibit virtual K-4 education altogether, and ultimately severely limit or eliminate virtual schools’ ability to operate due to prohibitive budgetary cuts and school districting rules.

Our coalition, the National Coalition for Public School Options, is taking a firm stance against this legislation. We urge you to submit letters to your local elected officials expressing your opposition to Senate Bill 429.
New Mexico parents deserve the right to choose the best school that works for their child — this legislation has the potential to eradicate the virtual school option for thousands of families, if enacted.

Help us oppose this harmful legislation by taking action now!
