Oklahoma Parents to Rally in Support of Schools of Choice
Oklahoma City, Okla., February 3, 2015 — Today, organizers announced plans for a rally in support of school choice at the Capitol. The rally, to be held February 11th, will be part of PublicSchoolOptions.org’s 5th Annual School Choice Day at the Capitol.
Each year, PublicSchoolOptions.org, a national parent-led non-profit advocacy organization, hosts events at dozens of statehouses around the country. In Oklahoma, organizers expect over a thousand parents, teachers and students to attend.
“School Choice Day at the Capitol is a fun and educational opportunity for families to see our state’s legislature in action, meet with their representatives and senators, and make their voices heard in support of the great education options we’re so fortunate to have in Oklahoma,” said Colleen Cook, state chair of the Oklahoma Chapter of PublicSchoolOptions.org and mother with one child in a public online charter school and two children in traditional public schools.
“We are looking forward to a huge turnout and are excited to hear from our school choice champions at the statehouse,” she continued.
The Rally for Schools of Choice will begin at 11:00AM. Other activities at School Choice Day at the Capitol include a group lunch and afternoon programming that includes time to meet with legislators, capitol tours, and discussions about parent advocacy.
PublicSchoolOptions.org is an alliance of parents that supports and defends parents’ rights to access the best public school options for their children.
