As another school year kicks off, my family is experiencing a whole new kind of change. With much gratitude to elected officials who trust parents with school choice and the immeasurable benefits of virtual school, both of my amazing children have started college this fall!
My son Tyler, who balanced classes at his virtual charter school AND local community college during high school, is a freshman at Clemson University. Go Tigers!!
My daughter Cassidy, who was told she would never graduate from high school, is a freshman at Arizona State University. Fear the Fork!!
As a parent, there are many proud moments throughout our children’s lives. First steps, first words (mama, duh!), and A+ report cards — just to name a few. For me and my husband Bill, nothing has made our hearts swell with pride quite like Tyler’s and Cassidy’s high school graduations.
Like everyone else, they’ve had their share of challenges, and they’ve both found a way to overcome those obstacles — and come up smiling on the other side!
What a life-changing, incredible blessing school choice has been for us!
